PAPYRUS Grass Roots Skin

PAPYRUS is the leading national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Founded in 1997 by a group of parents who had all tragically lost a child to suicide, PAPYRUS exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide.

Our Commitment

As a brand, we are passionate about helping this charity provide vital services to prevent young people from taking their life. It is not an easy topic to discuss and talking about suicide amongst any age group can be uncomfortable and awkward. For us, knowing that because of our efforts, someone may take a different path after speaking to someone at HOPELINEUK and go on to live a beautiful life, is worth having those awkward and uncomfortable conversations. We are committed to doing whatever we can both as a brand and personally through our own fundraising with friends and family.

HOPELINEUK engages with communities and volunteers in suicide prevention projects – delivering training and awareness-raising programmes to individuals and community groups.

PAPYRUS receives no central government funding and relies on donations to help them continue this valuable work.

As a brand Grass Roots Skin® donates a percentage of our profits to PAPYRUS but we also engage in fundraising all year round. We do walks, hikes, special sales and our famous yearly charity ball that is the highlight of our calendar. We welcome you to join us on all of our charity adventures, donate a prize to the ball, participate in any initiatives, but mostly, we encourage you to discuss suicide and mental health with an open heart.

Just £5 can save a young person’s life!

A donation of just £5 pays to service one call, text or email to HOPELINEUK, which can help a young person stay safe from suicide.

Just one call really could save a life.

£20 can pay for a resource pack aimed at supporting teachers.

£65 can keep the helpline, text and email services running for over one hour.

£200 can cover the cost of training someone in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), which is a two-day course that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions.
